2025 A Vintage for the Ages
2025 A VINTAGE FOR THE AGES
The dust has settled at Lone Farm Vineyard, and we are thrilled to share the incredible news from our 2025 harvest—a season that promises to deliver one of the finest vintages in the 10 years since we first planted our vines!
The sugar levels were truly outstanding, perfectly balanced by a vibrant acidity that we believe is the hallmark of an exceptional, long-lived wine. We were extremely busy throughout the harvest period, bringing in what turned out to be our second-best yield ever, just behind the fantastic 2018 vintage. The glorious must is now safely in the tanks, and we are overflowing with excitement about the potential of this year's wine.
Our commitment to the integral vine care and minimal intervention winemaking has never been stronger. This season, we were especially fastidious in our approach to the vineyard using, as usual, techniques from the Organic and Biodynamic principles that truly respect the ecosystem. The first step, back in March, was to utilise a technique called Gentle Pruning, which significantly promotes the longevity and health of our precious "girls"—the vines themselves, and that we have been using successfully for the past 8 years. No threat of frost for us, and fabulous weather meant that the usual sprays of various teas (Nettle, Dandelion, Equisetum, Lavender seaweed ,etc) were done very sparingly, but never letting our guard down. Following this dedication, harvest arrived with force, yes I know, this year was a very fast and furious one and it didn’t give me the chance to organise our usual “Tribe” day, and believe me, your help was greatly missed.
The winemaking process has been equally utterly respectful with the quality of the fruit. Fermentation began nearly a week after the harvest, initiated solely by the wild yeasts naturally present on the grapes. We are simply in awe of what the vineyard has had to say this year, committed to letting the unique character of these magnificent grapes speak loudly in every drop.
A truly special moment of the 2025 vintage was the production of our sparkling wine. We managed to catch a limited quantity—just 200 bottles—at the absolute optimal sugar levels to create our ANCESTRAL Method sparkling wine, lovingly named “Lola’s Tipple” after our beloved dog. This ancient winemaking technique captures the essence of the fruit, the purity of the vintage and of course, Terroir; and given the incredible quality of the fruit, we anticipate this to be a sparkling release that you won't want to miss. It's a tiny batch of liquid gold that perfectly encapsulates the spirit and success of this legendary year.
The fermentation process is nearly complete, and we are moving into the exciting next stages of maturation. The journey from vine to bottle is a patient one, but we couldn't wait to share our initial excitement about the 2025 vintage. As a thank you for your continued support, we're putting together a special mixed case of our current releases, which will be available in the next few days. Keep a close eye on your inbox for the announcement, ensuring you can secure some fantastic Bsixtwelve wines in time for your Christmas celebrations!
